Jocassee Designs was started by Ed Edwards and Shelley Blount in January of 1985. From a single, 12 head embroidery machine and a lone employee, the company has steadily grown adding more machines, more people, and more manufacturing space. Today, Jocassee Designs has 452 embroidery heads, employs over 60 people, and is one of the largest embroiderers in the southeast. At peak prodcution, Jocassee Designs can turn in excess of 50,000 pieces per week.
As the company grew, so did our ability to better serve the customer. In 1989, Jocassee Designs added it's first in-house digitizing. We now operate two Gunold APS systems to digitize original designs, or edit existing ones. In the 1990's, the company also added additional storage space along with heat-seal and die-cut machines to create embroidery appliques on site. Each new embroidery machine has also brought with it expanded capabilities. Jocassee Designs can run up to 15 colors on any one design. Drop table machines allow us more flexibility with finished garments. In 1999, we added our first machine dedicated to running finished caps.
In 1998, Jocassee Designs decided to offer direct sales to corporations and began offering the option of smaller orders. As that segment of the business grew, so did our services. We now offer a full catalog of name-brand items including OuterBanks, Champion, Jerzees, Fruit of the Loom, and Yupong Caps. Recently we've added the ability to have garments screen printed and a full line of non-apparel items to satisfy all of the customer's promotional needs.

Where did we get that name?
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
 Jocassee (pronounced jo-CAS-see) Designs is the namesake of Lake Jocassee located in the foothills of upstate South Carolina. Like many landmarks in this area, "Jocassee" is derived from the Cherokee language and reflects the Native American history of the region. It means "place of the lost one."
